In a democratic society, journalism is one of the most important tools for ensuring the free flow of information, accountability and transparency of government agencies. Investigative journalism occupies a special place among the various fields of journalism. This field is not limited to information collection, but also includes in-depth and thorough analysis aimed at identifying data hidden from society, detecting corruption, exposing human rights violations, and uncovering complex socio-political issues that would not have been possible without the involvement of the media. However, modern investigative journalism requires not only professional skills, but also the ability to effectively use modern technologies to analyze abundant information flows and search for confidential data. In this regard, artificial intelligence plays an important role by providing new methods and tools for the research process, allowing for a comprehensive and rapid analysis of information.
This study aims to analyze the use of artificial intelligence tools by investigative journalists in Kazakhstan, as well as to identify problems that arise in the adoption and use of technology. In the literature review, analyzing journalistic investigations, the possibilities and challenges of using artificial intelligence tools in journalism were identified.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the experience of using artificial intelligence tools in investigative journalism in Kazakhstan. To achieve this goal, a survey of two dozen journalists working in the field of investigative journalism were surveyed to analyze key aspects of the use of artificial intelligence. The study aimed to identify the main AI tools used in the practice of journalists, as well as to explore the obstacles they face when implementing these technologies.
The results showed that the most common tools among journalists are big data analysis, image visualization and text processing. However, the main obstacles to using AI are the high costs of technology implementation, lack of knowledge and experience, as well as problems with access to high-quality data. Technical difficulties, ethical and legal issues limit the widespread use of such services. The article emphasizes the importance of creating accessible and convenient solutions for the media sector, improving the skills of journalists and developing regulatory standards for the effective and ethical application of artificial intelligence in this area.
