Abstract
The article deals with the materials of American travelers, whose names will forever remain in the
memory of mankind about the first explorers of Central Asia. Publications of E.Schuyler, J.MacGahan, the
main witnesses of the Russian invasion of Central Asia, have aroused great interest among the American
audience. In the published materials by E.Schuyler and J.MacGahan was dominated by the installation
of information: they sought to acquaint readers with the social system, economic activity, oral poetic
creativity, manners and customs of the Kazakh people, with the geographical and climatic characteristics
