Abstract

The article addresses the issues of structural and functional features of the New Media study. Subject «New Media» is presented here as a discipline promotes development of Internet competence among students majoring in journalism, contributing to the development of analytical skills. Discipline considers Internet news resources from different points of view, allows identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the various information portals. Analysis model might be used to improve existing sites and considered when creating new ones. Studying New Media can play a significant role in the professional orientation of future journalists. The innovative character of the subject allows us to train mobile specialists in the field of mass media that meet the requirements of the XXI century.
