About the Journal
The journal "Herald of Journalism" was founded in 1997. The founder and publisher of the journal is the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi. The journal has developed and approved cover and title pages indicating the university, issue data, ISSN, eISSN, editorial board composition, editorial policy, publication ethics and website.
The journal is published 4 times a year.
The journal is indexed by the Kazakhstan Citation Database (KazCD) of the National Center of Science and Technological Evaluation (NCSTE) JSC.
The journal articles are registered in the CrossRef database, each author's article is assigned a DOI – a digital object identifier, which is used to provide citation, reference and access to electronic documents.
The journal is also posted in the Scientific Electronic Library elibrary.ru in open access for readers and is included in the analytical database "Russian Science Citation Index" (RSCI).
The editorial board of the journal includes leading Kazakh and foreign scientists.
The journal follows the policy of information openness and availability of publications of authors, articles are posted on the journal's website http://bulletin-journalism.kaznu.kz/ in three languages in full-text access.
The goals of the journal are to promote the development of fundamental and applied scientific research; to present the results of research in the field of mass communications that contribute to enhancing the scientific and educational level of media professionals; to create conditions for the exchange of scientific information in the international media sphere; to publish the results of fundamental and applied research by domestic and foreign specialists in the field of mass communications; and to draw attention to the most relevant and promising areas and issues of media development in Kazakhstan and abroad.
The objectives of the journal:
- To accumulate advanced scientific thought, stimulate fruitful scientific discussions and coordination in the field of mass media and communications;
- To attract domestic and foreign authors to publication activities, implementing geographical and thematic diversity;
- To promptly cover the results of innovative research that is important for the development of fundamental and applied communication science;
- To provide a high-quality dialogue platform for the exchange of opinions and experience in scientific and pedagogical assistance to young scientists in the field of university science;
- To maintain the academic reputation of the university in the field of dissemination of scientific knowledge and achievement of international level scientific publications, inclusion in international databases, increase of citation index.
Thematic areas of the journal
The journal publishes materials on global trends in the development of the media sphere, innovative ways of transmitting information, reviews of online tools and new media competencies. The publication is a unique platform for the exchange of scientific information, examination of innovative ideas, presentation of research in the field of media, discussions on the development of the media sphere of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Articles in the journal are published in the following thematic areas:
- Issues of mass communication, history of the press, print and electronic journalism;
- History and practice of the development of domestic and global publishing;
- Current state, history and methodology of public relations;
- International and domestic experience in media design and editorial management;
- Theory and practice of international journalism, research of global and local segments of the world media space;
- Domestic and foreign journalism, issues of media law, media literacy, citizen journalism and social media.
