The concept of «social network» and its place in modern network society

Abstract

The article discusses the history of the concept of “social networks” and its application in modern
social sciences. Taking into account the opinion of domestic and foreign researchers on the
concept, analysis of the history of its development was made with a chronological point of view.
And also we have been studied in detail the network theories and technologies used in the study of
society. And with a critical point of view is considered a transformation of the concept in different
scientific fields.
In addition, the article presents new information about the changes and requirements of this concept
during the progress of the telecommunications sector and microelectronic technologies and is revealed
the idea of its impact on the relationship between individuals in the virtual space.
