Abstract

Most of modern communications is based on the exchange of information via the Internet. Social networks, blogs, chats can now replace live communication. The Internet makes modern people dependent on themselves. The research topic of the article is devoted to the problem of the use of social networks and Internet addiction in the life of students. The topic is relevant from the point of view that it is impossible to imagine modern communication without social networks.

Today, the number of social media users is increasing every day. The source of information turned into a source of income and began to serve for the convenience of people.

The purpose of the research article is to determine the impact of social networks on the lives of students and young people in modern society and the reasons for their dependence on it. To achieve this goal, several tasks were set: to consider the intensity of the development and use of social networks, to emphasize their importance for modern people, to determine the dependence of young people on social networks.

The methodological basis of the article is the works of domestic and foreign scientists related to the assessment of the formation and development of social networks. The social survey conducted in the course of the study allows us to identify the problems of using social networks and virtual communication. The results obtained in the course of the study will be useful for  students, teachers, specialists dealing with the problems of psychology and sociology of communication of modern youth.
