Abstract

Modern socialization of the media space occurs in the context of global information processes. Multimedia and pronounced visualization have become the hallmark of new media, which, of course, includes YouTube, one of the most popular social platform today.

The main purpose of the study is to describe the specifics of creating high-quality video content, identifying its main features, and formulate practical recommendations for running a successful YouTube channel. For the research, the authors used empirical methods, in particular, comparison, observation and content analysis; and theoretical ones: the method of analysis and synthesis; the substantial method of research and forecasting.

The main results and conclusions of the research work suggest that YouTube video hosting should be considered not only as a form of new media, but also, in the context of the existence of principles, functions and technologies of professional journalism. Using specific examples, the criteria for creating in-demand YouTube materials that allow forming the domestic information field are analyzed, and conclusions are drawn about what methods of professional journalism should be used in this case.

 The result of the study offers a systematization of the characteristics of creating popular video content, which also emphasizes the practical significance of the material.

This work makes a significant contribution to the indicators study for successful promotion of a video blog without losing the importance of professional approaches and journalism functions. The systematized categories of work with the YouTube channel given in the article will allow not only to create high-quality video content, but also to address the issues of its monetization. These categories can be used for the successful work of news and other media wishing to realize their potential on video hosting and will also allow young scientists to study the topic of new media technologies deeper.
